You aren't being bad
When I first speak with clients, they often come to me expressing a surprising emotion:
Guilt.
Guilt at not paying enough attention to the finances until now
Guilt for not getting an MBA education or taking business courses
Guilt for not knowing how to handle a difficult employee situation
Guilt for running their business in a way they think is “wrong”
Guilt for wishing they were better, but feeling like they’ve been faking it
If this is you, I want to get something straight right here and right now:
Stop it.
You are not being “bad” for operating in a way that has worked for you, even if it’s not ideal
You’re not a bad CEO just because you have to ask for help
You’re not faking it because you don’t feel confident
You’re not failing your employees because you don’t know every answer.
Running a business is one of the most challenging things a person can do.
If you’re doing it - gracefully or not - chances are, you are a Total. Badass.
Nearly every founder I meet who is running a business
Is so much more incredible than they can see themselves.
So give yourself a break.
You’re not being bad.
You’re not doing it wrong.
And if you need help, I’m here.
Have an amazing weekend and see you Monday.
