New Software?

Question for you today:

How do you find new finance software?

Because here's my prior CFO buyer experience:

  1. Get a million sales calls and LinkedIn DMs from software vendors trying to sell me stuff I don't need.

  2. Then, when I actually do have a problem that's solvable with software:

    1. It takes ages of sunk time trying stuff out

    2. Every time we switch, the entire team has to adapt

    3. It's impossible to tell which tools will solve my needs best without sinking time into implementation

    4. Hiring a specialist to help me pick one has always been a terrible experience because they're paid to sell me a specific tool

But here's the thing:

As a Fractional CFO, picking good software has never been easier:

  • I've worked with over 150 companies in the past 4 years, so I've seen a gazillion FinOps stacks

  • I actually say YES to most fintech startup demos because it's part of my job to recommend the best software

  • I'm part of the startup FinTech community, so I personally know many of these CEOs, their company stories, and the contents of their product backlog

In fact, I'm thinking about building out a little repo soon to help clients and my community connect get a sneak peak at the best new finance tools.

That'll be in the works - more on it soon...

But in the meantime,

What finance software have you been searching for for ages?

What finance software has been your best purchase?

What finance software is driving you crazy?

I'd love to know!
