Do you see yourself?
If you could only have one business skill, which would you pick?
As a founder, here’s mine:
The ability to truly see yourself
Within the context you’re operating.
It tells you:
Whether you need to be on offense or defense
Whether you need to change strategy or increase execution intensity
If there’s a golden opportunity for you in the market that others don’t see
Which aspects of your business require over-investment and which you can save on
And so much more
And if you want to develop the critical skill, here’s how to do it:
Invest time in understanding your market by reading, networking, and continuing to be curious about the players and forces in your industry (the context you’re operating in). And,
Develop an arsenal of useful data sources and reports within your organization that provide a clear picture of what’s going on in your business (to truly see yourself)
Get those two things right,
And you’ll be far ahead the majority of leaders
In your market.
