A startup is like a truck
Running a company without strong financial reports and data
(Or without knowing how to use them)
Is like driving a car
With no gauges or odometer.
In other words,
It’s actually totally doable!
If the road is familiar and the car is running strong
If the customers keep coming and your margins are high
There are companies that run like sturdy old farm trucks.
You can run them the same way, day in and day out
You don’t need fancy gauges or gadgets to tell you what’s what.
You just feel the road.
When you need those instruments
Is when all that changes:
When you want to drive a new path
When you have to flip it into high gear
When you’re running out of gas
When the tires are coming off
And here’s the problem:
If you don’t learn how to read your gauges when you’re cruising down the road
You’ll have nowhere to turn
When your pedal’s to the metal.
