1% Market Penetration

"This startup is going to be easy because I only need 1% of the market to be profitable!"

^ Overheard during a recent startup pitch.

Here's the problem:

1% of a 50 billion dollar market

Is $500,000,000.

Which, for a company with a $100k ARPU,

Is 5,000 customers.

Which is INCREDIBLY hard to achieve.

Especially when you currently don't even have 1.

1 isn't always a small number.
